France, United Kingdom / The Avenue Verte Paris-London

From Notre Dame to the Big Ben group tour

These two majestic capitals are finally linked by cycle paths and low-traffic roads. From Paris, France’s most romantic city, you will cross the Seine and Epte rivers valley to reach the sea. After the Dieppe-Newhaven crossing, the greenest of English countryside will accompany you to London, the most regal of international cities. Inaugurated in 2012, the Paris-London Avenue Verte is a dream come true. “Prêt à partir”?
  • Day by Day

    1. Bienvenue à Paris!
Those arriving in the early afternoon can make a first visit of the Ville Lumière.

    2. Paris – Cergy (55 km)
Au revoir Paris! Starting from Notre Dame you can follow the Axe Historique from the Louvre with the Champs Elysées through the Arc de Triomphe till the new Défense district. After Nanterre, you will come to the islands and parks so dear to the impressionists, once a destination for Sunday trips, somewhere to spend the afternoon “en plein air” on a boat between the Seine and the Marne. Welcome to the Promenade Bleue in Paris!

    3. Cergy – Gisors (60 km)
Your journey continues through the heart of the Vexin natural park, home to picturesque towns, castles and farmhouses. After Théméricourt and its spectacular Maison du Parc, you continue to Villarceaux and its eighteenth-century castle bearing the same name. After the small town of Bray-et-Lû you will proceed along the river Epte to Gisors and the fortress marking the historical Franco-Norman border.
    4. Gisors – Forges-les-Eaux (65 km)
Departure from Gisors for Gournay-en-Bray and then on to Forges- les-Eaux, the renowned spa resort. Welcome to Normandy, or rather to Gourmandie, land of unique flavours!
    5. Forges-les-Eaux – Dieppe (60 km)
From Forges-les-Eaux you will follow the brand new cycle path that will take you directly to the sea, through the wonderful countryside dotted with farms that supply their excellent products to the Norman and Parisian markets. Along the second half of the route the landscape is tinged with blue as you pass through the Arques estuary, overlooked by the castle of the same name and ancient sand caves that have become a refuge for marsh birds. Here you are in Dieppe, France’s first seaside resort and a favourite place for many impressionist painters.
    6. Dieppe – Brighton (20 km + ferry + 20 km)
After a short loop around Dieppe, at about 12:30 you will embark to cross the English Channel and will arrive in Newhaven, where you will continue cycling along the wonderful Undercliff Walk, a stunning path along the sea. You will finally reach Brighton, famous and elegant English tourist resort. Do not miss a visit to the beautiful Royal Pavillion and an evening walk on the Brighton Pier.
    7. Brighton – London (45 km)
After a train transfer up to Redhill, you will start cycling through wonderful parks and brand-new cycle paths, and will finally arrive in Westminster, in the heart of London.
    8. London
After breakfast, goodbye and au revoir!

Due to organisational reasons, weather conditions or provisions issued by local authorities, the itinerary may be subject to some changes before and/or during the holiday.
Along the way you may find temporary deviations (for example road works) which cannot be foreseen; any changes to the route will be discussed and decided by the Tour Leader.

  • Route profile
    • Total length: 325 km
    • Total vertical up: 2,050 m
    • Terrain: 90% tarmac, 10% unpaved
    • Train connection among the overnight stays: every day
    • Possibility to shorten the itinerary by taking the train: day 2, 4, 6 and 7

The route follows the Avenue Verte along dedicated cycle paths, road shoulder cycle lanes and quiet country roads. The route is mainly in the lowlands when it follows the main rivers, and then becomes slightly more difficult in the countryside areas, especially in England.  The whole route from Paris to London is marked by the tourist cycle signage Avenue Verte.

Some days the itinerary will be flat, others it will present some hills. Suitable for everyone in good physical condition and with some cycling experience.

Viaggio bello, interessante e impegnativo.

I got home on Tuesday evening, from my wonderful trip to France and England. When someone asks, what was the best part, I do not hesitate to answer -- When we turned the corner and there was Westminster Abbey in front of us and all thirteen of us arrived there safe and sound.
It was a great bike trip, I don't know how it could have been better. I was so happy to have Tamy as our guide, she did a perfect job. And Mateo on the van support was excellent as well.
I didn't have any idea how this group I put together would interact with each other, but all twelve were just great, and of course now they want me to tell them where we are going next! That is the best compliment possible, to Girolibero and the staff who helped us.
Everyone had very kind and positive things to say about yourself, as well as Tamy and Mateo, thought I would pass that along!

      Departure 30 July - 06 August 2016

      Online from 12 September 2016

Ottima esperienza in generale.

Organizzazione perfetta in ogni particolare.
